OT: Sonovox, horns and sound effects

Anyone know what the horn is used on the Sonovox? Looks like a very small WE or Vitaphone.

Size and folding looks like a WE KS-6373 PA/stage monitor.

GM where do you always find this stuff ?

I once had quite a large and varied library of vintage stuff either given me by relatives/whoever or collected on my own dating back to the first issue of National Geographic, but a house fire consumed much of it, so only a smattering of stuff left. Also, when I first got on-line, the net was still basically a collection of institutions with open archives, not the least of which was AT&T's and where this particular info came from. Unfortunately, an early virus that targeted graphics got most of what I'd collected before these were closed to the public.

Earl, yeah, it's a cool clip. I can't find that Casey Jr. cartoon in stand alone form, tho. There is a similar clip in the movie Dumbo, but not this same one. And I wonder why the fellows making the storm sounds are wearing those crazy masks and hoods?

Sooooo, any ideas about the Sonovox? I know that the device was held on the vocal cords to produce sound, then that sound shaped with the mouth. But the clip does not show her anywhere near a mic, which should be needed, right? (other sound effects folks are shown with mics). Or is one side of the Sonovox a pickup? Not sure how that would work.

Those things held against the throat are small speakers or very large microphones depending on your POV to get a strong enough signal back to a special pre-amp.

Yeah, I wondered about that too. The concept would be scaled down to the throat mikes used by WWII pilots.

Try Cartoon-World ! I found a bunch of rare toons there. It is a strange site tho.Just the way you search,it seems backwards IMO,it has a forum with it too.
